Just One More Step Toward Success: Embrace the Challenge

Written on

Chapter 1: Embracing the "Go One More" Mindset

In the world of fitness and personal development, Nick Bare stands out as an inspiring figure. With a background in the military and as a hybrid athlete, he successfully runs a supplement company while maintaining a rigorous fitness regimen. His mantra, “Go One More,” resonates deeply with me, serving as a powerful reminder that there’s always room for just one more attempt at anything you set your mind to.

This philosophy effectively eliminates the concept of failure, as it encourages a mindset of perseverance. If you haven't given up, you haven't truly failed. For instance, if your gym results have stalled over the past few months, consider the impact of showing up just one more time. By committing to this simple yet profound idea, you can shift your focus from daunting goals to manageable habits, ultimately paving your way to success.

In my previous book, "Relentless Forward Momentum," I frequently discuss the importance of balancing a grand vision with practical, bite-sized objectives. While it’s essential to dream big, cultivating small, achievable habits is equally vital. The idea of “going one more” alleviates the pressure of immediate outcomes, allowing you to concentrate on forming beneficial routines.

You might not have built a $10 million business yet, but you can take actionable steps today—reach out to one more potential client, create one more video for your website, or simply show up one more day. Some days, just showing up is a victory in itself, much like I mentioned in a previous blog post.

When it comes to fitness, remember that you won’t shed 20 pounds overnight. However, you can commit to one more workout session. That’s the essence of this approach: don’t fixate on tomorrow or the final outcome. Instead, immerse yourself in the process, and the results will naturally follow.

This mindset was crucial for me when I began my writing journey. There were countless days when I lacked the motivation to write. Yet, I made a commitment to produce 1,000 words daily for a year, regardless of my circumstances or feelings. I focused solely on one writing session at a time, never stressing about the next day's blog or future topics.

By consistently stacking small victories, I embodied the “go one more” principle that Nick Bare champions. Anyone who has achieved success understands that there will always be days when motivation wanes. It’s simply human nature to seek comfort and avoid effort.

To combat this, concentrate fully on the task at hand, maintaining a singular focus. Give your best effort, and when you feel drained, push yourself to go just one more step.
