# The Inevitable Reality of Climate Change: A Harsh Truth

The Unalterable Nature of Climate Change
It’s been said that humanity has long been in a battle against global warming, but the truth is, this struggle has been futile for approximately 4.543 billion years. In fact, from the planet’s inception, the course of climate has been set, and it appears we are unable to alter it. Here’s an exploration of why this is the case.
The Earth’s Self-Regulating Mechanism
The discussion surrounding CO2 emissions, ocean acidification, and the melting of ice caps often implies that humans have the power to combat these challenges. However, this is a misconception. What is often overlooked is the Earth’s inherent ability to maintain its temperature autonomously.
For millennia, the planet has undergone cycles of cooling and warming, independent of human influence. Historical data reveals a pattern: as CO2 levels rise, so do temperatures, and vice versa. While the reasons behind these fluctuations remain a mystery, they have persisted for hundreds of thousands of years.
Current Climatic Phenomena
The dramatic rise in global temperatures is responsible for the extreme weather events we are witnessing today—more frequent and intense tornadoes, storms, ocean acidification leading to marine ecosystem destruction, earthquakes, and severe heatwaves. Conversely, we also experience plunges into extreme cold, resulting in ice expansions that reach as far south as central France in the northern hemisphere and central Uruguay in the southern hemisphere, endangering species unable to adapt.
Our ancestors lived through various climatic periods, including glacial and interglacial phases. Presently, modern humans find themselves in a warming phase, which is beyond our control. The Earth’s temperature is rising regardless of human existence, and acceptance of this reality is all we can do.
Understanding Nature’s Mechanisms
This situation mirrors the natural cycle of meteorite impacts, which occur approximately every 100 million years, resulting in significant biodiversity shifts. Just as these catastrophic events are beyond human control, so too is the natural ebb and flow of Earth’s temperatures. While we may be able to slow the process, halting it entirely is not an option.
The Consequences of Human Activity
Human emissions are not the root cause of the current warming trend; rather, they accelerate a change that would have occurred over thousands of years. The speed of these changes presents a dire challenge for many species that have historically adapted to gradual climatic shifts. Consequently, we face uncertainty regarding which species will endure and which will perish. All we can do is hope to be among the survivors, including those that produce the oxygen we need to live.
Unless we take immediate action to remove the excess CO2 from our atmosphere, we are facing a grim future.
This video titled "Too late to stop Climate Change?" delves into the implications of our current trajectory and examines whether any actions can be taken to mitigate the effects of climate change.
In another video, "Yes, The Climate Crisis Can Wipe Out Six to Nine Billion People," the discussion focuses on the potentially catastrophic consequences of climate change on human populations and the planet as a whole.
