Beginning My Medium Adventure
Initially, I had my own blog, which felt like a safe haven for sharing my thoughts and stories. I participated in various blogging challenges, often inspired by other writers who were active on Medium. In 2019, I decided to create a Medium account to explore their work more closely and show my support through claps.
At first glance, Medium seemed quite basic, and I struggled to grasp the interaction dynamics, which felt less engaging than the comments on my WordPress blog. Nevertheless, I continued to log in to appreciate the authors I admired.
In early 2020, a friend invited me to contribute to a Medium publication, suggesting I could repurpose a piece from my blog. I took her up on the offer, which marked my first step into the platform.
The Blogging Fallout
The year 2020 brought significant changes. With lockdowns in place, many people became more insular, leading to conflicts among differing viewpoints. Some sought affirmation within their circles, resulting in a wave of cancellations directed at those of us who dared to maintain our individuality. While it was a challenging time, I persevered, though I felt a distinct void in my blogging life.
Simultaneously, WordPress updated its editor, transforming a previously straightforward tool into a complex one for me. Suddenly, the simplicity of Medium's layout became appealing.
