Embracing the New Year: Reflections and Goals for 2024

Chapter 1: A New Year Begins
It’s hard to believe that three weeks into 2024 have already flown by. It feels like we just celebrated the arrival of this new year, filled with hope and fresh starts. Now, with only forty-nine weeks remaining, it’s time to assess what I’ve achieved so far.
Despite my initial enthusiasm, I’ve found myself lagging behind on my goals.
Section 1.1: Assessing My Progress
I aimed to write four posts per week on Medium, but I’ve only managed a total of six so far. This certainly falls short of my expectations. Similarly, I planned to edit and publish at least one episode on Vella each week, but I haven’t completed any. As for new projects, I regret to say that I haven’t initiated a single one.

What have I managed to accomplish? I did finish a chapter of my novel, ordered seeds for my garden, and successfully transplanted some larger plants. While these are positive steps, I still feel the weight of my unmet goals.
Section 1.2: The Challenges Faced
This year, I’ve vowed to avoid making excuses for my lack of productivity, yet the month has presented its fair share of challenges. A week plagued by vertigo set me back significantly. For those who have experienced it, you know it’s an ordeal I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
Being someone who thrives on routine, disruptions can derail me completely. My primary strategy for overcoming this is to reset and start afresh, which I did just yesterday.
Chapter 2: Taking Charge
The first video titled Ticking Away ft. Grabbitz & bbno$ (Official Music Video) // VALORANT Champions 2023 Anthem captures the essence of time slipping by. It serves as a reminder that we need to seize every moment.
Another inspiring video, Ticking Away, emphasizes the urgency of making the most of our time.
I’ve organized my workspace and charged my laptop to eliminate any excuses for inaction. A friend and I have scheduled a date this Wednesday to tackle one of my projects—acrylic pouring. I’m truly excited about this creative endeavor, which I’ve wanted to explore for years. All necessary supplies have been purchased, and I’m eager to dive in.
My planner is out, and I plan to detail my agenda for the upcoming week. Keeping it visible will serve as a constant reminder of my commitments. I’ve even set aside a marker to check off completed tasks, allowing me to visually track my progress.
Looking Ahead
Despite falling behind, I refuse to let that discourage me. I am determined to push forward. Every day counts, and I need to continue working toward my goals. With just 25 months and 9 days remaining until I intend to leave my day job, there’s a lot to achieve. Time is fleeting, and idleness will only keep me stagnant in a year’s time.
Not this girl. My moment is now, and I’m committed to moving forward.
How is your year progressing so far?
