Chapter 1: The Journey Begins

Building a successful business is challenging, but it’s achievable for anyone willing to put in the effort. The key?

Four years ago, I was leading a conventional life—if such a thing exists. I held a 9-to-5 position at a large corporation in Quebec, Canada. My weeks were meticulously planned, filled with routines and various activities:

• Monday evenings: Free
• Tuesday evenings: Teach sailing
• Wednesday evenings: Climb
• Thursday evenings: Teach sailing
• Friday evenings: Free
• Weekends: Compete in sailing and enjoy life

This routine repeated itself endlessly. It was a decent life, yet like many, I found myself dissatisfied with my daily job. It didn’t resonate with my values or ambitions, and I felt misaligned. Thus, I began searching for a path to a new lifestyle, unaware of the transformation that lay ahead.

For the previous two years, I had been passionately working on a somewhat ambitious side project: participating as a captain and expedition leader in a retro sailing race around the globe.

Looking back, it was quite the endeavor—especially considering I lacked a boat, a team, and the $600,000 budget necessary to realize this dream. However, I was undeterred; I truly believed in this project and pushed forward to make it a reality. Then, everything shifted in 2020 with the onset of the pandemic.

All the groundwork I had laid finally bore fruit when I established my first business connected to this project. In just two years, I transformed from an everyday individual, juggling bills and riding a $50 bike, to the owner of a six-figure business, a six-figure boat, a public speaker, a life coach, and an expedition leader.

It's still surreal to reflect on this journey. Over the past 16 months, I’ve sailed through breathtaking locations like French Polynesia, Panama, and the Caribbean, sharing life aboard a sailboat, teaching sailing, leadership, and management skills, and most importantly, crafting memorable experiences filled with emotion.

What once seemed unattainable is now my reality, and I want you to hold onto this truth: We often impose limits on ourselves. We might think we lack the capability or resources, but in reality, you can achieve everything you aspire to if you trust your instincts and take action.

Success won’t come overnight, but if your dream is worth pursuing, isn’t it worth the effort? Today, I’m invited back to speak at the very company I once worked for, sharing insights on how belief in oneself can lead to remarkable achievements.

5. I confronted my fears head-on.

These principles are straightforward, yet many struggle to apply them. It was at this realization that I felt compelled to help others navigate their own transformations.

I’m not exceptional, nor am I smarter than anyone else. I simply had a dream and pursued it relentlessly. Now, it’s your turn.
