Chapter 1: A Milestone Achieved
Today marks Saturday, February 24, and I am thrilled to announce that I've completed my 30-day writing challenge! Yes, I did it!

For those who may not know, I was quite apprehensive about embarking on this journey. If you're curious about my initial hesitations, you can check out my first article here. This experience has been incredibly fulfilling, and I feel a sense of pride for sticking with it, adapting when things became overwhelming, and trusting my instincts. While we may have altered our course, our ultimate goal remained unchanged!
Throughout this challenge, I took plenty of notes and recorded reflections, which I'm excited to share with you all. I want to highlight some key milestones from this journey and discuss what lies ahead! Thank you all for your support, which helped maintain my momentum.
First, what did this challenge involve?
The task was to write daily for 30 days and publish at least one article each day. This required not only writing but also preparing articles for posting. To fit this into my schedule, I began on the evening of Friday, January 26, 2024, with my first article going live the following day. My routine became writing in the evenings and scheduling posts for the next day.
Have you ever participated in a daily writing challenge or something similar? If so, how did it impact your self-awareness and perspective on life?

General Impressions
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this experience, but it turned out to be something I desperately needed. I found immense joy in writing and realized how liberating it felt to express thoughts that had long been bottled up. Medium introduced me to a community I hadn't known before, and it quickly felt like home.
As I mentioned earlier, writing transformed into a means of finally articulating what I had wanted to say, which alleviated the pressure I felt. It was a freeing experience that allowed me to release burdens I had been carrying.
Highlights
When I decided to write on Medium, I didn’t initially focus on monetization. I assumed it would take time to see any financial return. Imagine my surprise on Day 10 when I discovered I had earned $1.49! I was truly inspired. Having been on multiple platforms, this was the first time I had made money doing something I love for myself—how amazing is that?
As I continued, I gained subscribers, received replies to my articles, and attracted followers. Each milestone felt exhilarating, especially since I had no expectations. Every experience throughout this process was delightful.

Reflections: Earning While Writing
I never anticipated generating income from this endeavor. It became even more enjoyable once I realized that I wasn’t writing for money; instead, I was earning simply by being authentic and enjoying the process.
I felt a sense of support that I hadn’t experienced online before, which transformed everything for me. Throughout this challenge, I never doubted my ability to follow through. I felt a strong sense of purpose in my writing and in the challenge itself.
Once I embraced the idea of consistency and fun, I found that I naturally wrote every day, regardless of what else was happening in my life. I wrote for myself and felt gratitude every time I did.
I also came to believe that my content was always valuable; I just hadn’t shared it in the right spaces before. This opportunity has inspired me to explore more ways to connect with others who resonate with my message.
Interestingly, during my in-person workshops, about 75% of attendees mentioned they were not active on social media and had discovered me through Eventbrite or other platforms. I’m not very active on Instagram (though I do use Twitter and Medium), so hearing this made me realize I didn’t need to rely on those platforms for connection.
Reflections on February 18, 2024
This journey has been delightful. Often, I’d start with a plan for an article only to find it evolving into something entirely different. I let my intuition guide me, allowing sparks of inspiration to lead the way without a rigid strategy.
The commitment to write daily for 30 days became a promise to myself, and it felt liberating. And then, to top it off, I was amazed to find I could actually earn money while sharing my thoughts!
Benefits from My 30-Day Writing Challenge
I have transformed since starting this challenge. I feel more confident, grounded in my truth, and inspired to share my perspective. I have opened myself up to reading articles outside my usual interests, adding depth to my experience. Here are some key benefits I observed:
- Personal Growth and Awareness: I've become more self-aware and shifted my perspective on many aspects of life.
- Inspiration and Creative Expression: My thoughts sparked curiosity, leading to unexpected writing pieces.
- Emotional Release and Liberation: Sharing personal stories provided a sense of relief and enjoyment in my writing.
- Community Connection and Support: I found a welcoming community on Medium and discovered the potential for financial gain through my authenticity.
- Purpose and Consistency: Writing daily instilled a strong sense of purpose and consistency in my life.
- Reflection and Self-Discovery: This challenge served as a form of journaling, facilitating self-discovery.
- Adaptability and Initiatives: I learned to adapt and pivot without losing sight of my goals.
- Encouragement for Others: I feel inspired to encourage others to find their unique voice.
Reflections from My Writing Journey
I began taking notes in my Notes app on February 2, 2024. This process has allowed me to better understand myself as a writer. I often make outlines but find that I enjoy writing whatever comes to mind. This spontaneity feels freeing, even as I wonder about its sustainability.
I’ve realized that my current setup may not be ideal; perhaps a structure with six days of writing followed by one day for prep might be more effective. Through this writing, I’ve processed thoughts and explored my identity.
As Day 8 approached, I felt a release as I shared stories that had long been unspoken. I was learning when a topic was ready for exploration and the importance of letting my thoughts breathe.
By Day 10, I was thrilled to discover that I had earned money from my first article, which boosted my motivation and excitement. Each day brought new milestones, including subscribers and followers, which enriched my experience further.

As I conclude this journey, I find myself filled with ideas for Day 30. While I want to bask in my achievements, I also feel the urge to write. Each individual's journey on Medium is unique, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share mine.
To anyone contemplating whether to write, I ask: "What do you have to lose by giving it a try?"
You might dislike it, but you also might find something you love. You could feel uneasy, but even that discomfort can lead to valuable insights.
Remember, everyone has a voice, and there’s an audience out there for your words. Utilize platforms like Medium to connect with your people, and don't hesitate to share your writing, even if it isn't perfect.
Your writing will evolve with time. Keep writing, keep reading, and watch your skills develop. I have even enrolled in a writing course, intrigued by the prospect of exploring fiction. Who knows where this journey may lead?
I hope this article resonates with you in some way.
