Chapter 1: Enhancing Your Viewing Experience
In an effort to elevate my home entertainment setup, I set out to improve the visual appeal of my TVs. After considering various options, I decided to go with Lytmi's offerings, particularly the Neo HDMI Sync Box 2.0, which provided all the features I needed at a more affordable price compared to the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box.
The most challenging aspect was the anticipation. I placed my order for two kits on December 30 and eagerly awaited their arrival, which took nearly two weeks to travel from China to my doorstep. I hoped the wait would be worth it!
Here's where the excitement peaked: unboxing my new gadgets!
Section 1.1: Unboxing the Lytmi Light Strips
I felt a rush of excitement as I opened the package, which contained everything I needed for both my upstairs and downstairs televisions. Inside were two LED light strips, a NEO control box, and several command strip brackets for attaching the lights. The kit included curved brackets for corners and straight ones for the sides, making installation straightforward.
Subsection 1.1.1: Installation Made Easy
With four corners and brackets for each side, installation was uncomplicated. I carefully followed the instructions, starting the first strip from the bottom left of the TV and wrapping it around to the right. The second strip mirrored this process, beginning at the bottom and finishing at the top right corner. The length of the LED cable was just right for screens up to 65 inches. However, I had purchased a larger kit for my upstairs TV and had to trim some excess cable, which felt wasteful—though I might find a way to repurpose it later.
Note: Each strip features marked cut points, designed to make the process foolproof.
Section 1.2: The NEO Control Box
The compact NEO control box is unobtrusive. Unlike the Philips model, which accommodates multiple devices, this box supports only one device at a time unless you incorporate an HDMI switch. I relied on my upscaling receiver for input switching.
I connected the two USB cables from the LED strips to the left side of the TV. After setting everything up through the LYTMI app on my phone, I was ready to experience the lights (though I initially had to adjust the USB connections due to a color mismatch during setup).
Chapter 2: Exploring Lighting Features

I wanted to test the lights even when the TV was off. The system offers various scenes to choose from, including options like "Fireworks," "Rainbow," and "Drip."
I also experimented with a scene called "Ball," and the Lytmi kit proved to be sound-sensitive, synchronizing with music in the background for added fun.
Next, I decided to put the lights to the test with a 4K video of a fireplace on YouTube, and the results were stunning.
Conclusion: After several days of using and adjusting the system, I'm genuinely impressed. I appreciate not needing an external camera (unlike the GOVEE system) for optimal lighting effects, and I've noticed no lag in the backdrop lighting. Whether watching hockey games, the movie "Avatar," or new shows from the Magnolia Network, the system has performed excellently.
I’m excited to continue exploring its features, adding some much-needed color to an otherwise dreary pandemic period.
