Engaging Highlights from Aiden's Journey in Episode #201

Chapter 1: A Glimpse into Aiden's Curated Collection

In this episode, Aiden presents a selection of his favorite stories along with those nominated by our dedicated community. This collection is designed for passionate readers of ILLUMINATION Publications on Medium.

Aiden curating stories for ILLUMINATION

Recently, we launched a newsletter from Dr. Mehmet Yildiz's secondary account, crafted as a narrative to convey essential messages for writers, especially concerning the recent developments he's keenly aware of through his intuition and extensive network. We also shared it on Substack, so please help spread the word, as our experience shows that the Medium version may not attract views without direct links.

The content opens with two exceptional pieces that freelance writers eagerly await but often overlook. I was particularly taken aback by Dr. Yildiz's bold discussion on feminism—what an enlightening read!

Dear readers and writers, welcome to Episode #201! Yesterday was significant for me as I compiled some extraordinary stories, including those highlighted by our editors and valued readers like you. Following this introduction, I’ll delve into updates on our publication activities, including new writer introductions and story curation.

Section 1.1: Editorial Changes and Challenges

Today, I felt a sense of loss as our most committed editor, Mike, decided to step down from his role at ILLUMINATION-Curated. This feels like a missed opportunity, as noted by a discerning reader in response to his article. I empathize with Mike; I share his sentiments about the editing process. It often seems futile when edited stories fail to gain traction or visibility.

In another revealing piece, I wrote about a sensitive topic yesterday. Unsurprisingly, only three people read it. While nudity isn't universally appealing—even to me as an open-minded individual—I aimed to create an evocative experience. Naturally, it didn’t receive a boost, and I fully understand the hesitation many readers feel, even as they clandestinely engage with Samantha's stories.

Subsection 1.1.1: The Tedious Task of Adding New Writers

Recently, I faced the monotonous task of adding over 400 new writers to our platform. While necessary, it’s tedious, and volunteers seem uninterested in taking it on due to the outdated Medium system. Why can’t we have a streamlined application process where editors can accept or reject submissions with a single click? Thankfully, adding writers to Substack or Slack is much quicker. You’ll find their details in the onboarding pack attached, and I plan to introduce them in an upcoming bulletin.

The good news is we’ve successfully cleared a significant backlog of over 2,000 stories. Our chief editor expressed gratitude for the team’s perseverance during a stressful period, as several editors had resigned. However, we have reasons to celebrate today! 🎉

Section 1.2: Celebrating Progress and Future Plans

To maintain our momentum, I crafted a positive piece inspired by Tim Denning's empowering Substack Notes. I noticed that our writer registration portal had over 1,000 new inquiries. Although I spent three hours processing just 50, it remains a daunting task. I wonder why Medium hasn't automated this process—it’s incredibly time-consuming!

We’ve begun compiling our newsletters. Mike, as the fastest, sent updates from the Health and Science publication for June, and I was pleased to see significant progress with 40K views in just its second month. I’m grateful to our caring editor for attributing this beautiful story to me, thanks to Brenda Mahler, who inspired Mike Broadly, DHSc.
