Celebrating Mike’s Top Picks from ILLUMINATION Publications

Written on

A snapshot of Health & Science publication

Dear readers and fellow Medium enthusiasts, I've put together a collection of 108 curated stories, providing new readers with diverse topics to explore. My goal is to unearth compelling narratives that might otherwise go unnoticed, sharing them for your enjoyment.

Today marks the 10th day of my flourishing publication, Health & Science, on Medium.com.

I’m thrilled to share that a remarkable article by David Mokotoff, MD, has been chosen as a Staff Pick by Medium curators. The piece, titled How I, & Most of the Medical Establishment, Got Fooled & Scammed By the Diet Theory of Cholesterol, is both enlightening and engaging, challenging the outdated cholesterol narrative.

This achievement is particularly significant as our publication received over 2000 visits yesterday.

I also crafted a story highlighting my top 10 favorites from our publication.

Here’s a light-hearted description of these standout stories, designed to inform, inspire, and entertain my dedicated readers.

I want to congratulate Gill McCulloch for having her extraordinary story selected as a Staff Pick. I will introduce her piece, 17 Common First Aid Myths That Hurt People and What the Red Cross Recommends Instead, in my next collection to enlighten and inspire our Medium community.

Introducing My New Publication

Image showcasing the Health & Science publication

Writers passionate about health and science topics are encouraged to contribute to the Health & Science publication. I will gladly review and promote high-quality stories that resonate with our audience.

The initial draft of our publication and submission guidelines is now available. Interested writers and readers can find it here: Invitation to Writers: A New Pub Named “Health & Science” Part of ILLUMINATION Group.

We aim to foster a vibrant community where numerous writers can share their insights on these topics. We will publish quickly and promote through various channels, with support from volunteers like my good friend Aiden from Australia.

Recently, I was inspired by several excellent submissions, with two stories being highlighted yesterday.

My ambition is to boost views and engagement for our talented authors. At the conclusion of this collection, I’ll provide updates on our publication’s activities, as readers are primarily interested in the selected stories.

Our new newsletter is now available, offering exciting updates for writers and readers alike.

Aiden recently posted his weekly boosted story collection, showcasing around 30 new boosted stories that are truly remarkable.

In addition, ILLUMINATION editors interviewed Dr. Yildiz regarding a new policy affecting writers of the Lampshade of ILLUMINATION, prohibiting monetization of AI-generated content. This interview offers valuable insights for all writers.

I have been particularly busy with publishing lately, as the volume of submissions increased significantly due to two editors taking a break. Therefore, this collection may be a bit shorter than usual. We also added many new writers today, and I’ll introduce them at the end of this collection, allowing you to explore their profiles and stories.

Recently, I wrote a critical piece addressing a public health concern: intermittent fasting and its alleged link to a 91% increased risk of heart disease.

Here’s what Dr. Mehmet Yildiz wrote regarding this matter: Perfect Storm in a Teacup: Can Intermittent Fasting Increase Heart Disease Risk by 91%? Aiden also penned a compelling story discussing why fasting doesn’t lead to heart disease, but rather obesity does.

As a writer and reader, I stumbled upon a remarkable business opportunity that I found to be a scam. I wrote about it satirically, intending to provide some humor.

I wrote about the challenges of bulk suspensions, as Medium recently suspended numerous accounts. We created a brief piece about it, should you wish to learn more.

The Pain of Losing Substantial Subscribers in a Single Day

Dr. Yildiz shared his perspectives, viewing the suspension situation from multiple angles, which made me more empathetic toward both the victims and Medium. Having experienced a suspension a few weeks ago, I understand the emotional toll it can take. However, the platform must eliminate unproductive accounts.
