# The Absurd Conspiracy Theory Linking Taylor Swift to the Super Bowl

Written on

Chapter 1: Introduction to the Conspiracy

What lengths will the American right-wing media go to?

The recent allegations surrounding Taylor Swift and the Super Bowl are not just ludicrous; they are deeply insulting and rooted in sexism. Swift, one of the most accomplished female artists globally, has become the target of absurd claims from certain right-wing commentators who suggest that the Democrats and the Pentagon have orchestrated the Super Bowl's results merely to assist Swift in her supposed endorsement of Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.

A few days ago, social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, was inundated with fake and deeply offensive images of Swift, often depicted in a gruesome manner while dressed in football gear. Fortunately, her fans rallied to have many of these images removed.

The vitriol directed at her is nothing short of appalling. Swift, who achieved billionaire status in 2023 and is a Grammy Award-winning artist, has been accused of being a pawn for the U.S. Defense Department, allegedly aimed at psychologically influencing voters to support Biden in the upcoming election.

Individuals who subscribe to conspiracy theories often believe they possess exclusive information that sets them apart from the so-called 'sheep' who accept mainstream narratives. This belief fosters a sense of superiority, stemming from a desire for uniqueness. This need can often lead to the embrace of unfounded theories.

Influential pro-Trump commentator Mike Crispi expressed this sentiment starkly: "EVERYONE knows Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is fake and the Super Bowl is rigged. You're a whacko at this point if you DON'T believe it." Even if these right-wing figures don't genuinely endorse such claims, they recognize the ability to inflame their audience’s emotions.

This rhetoric incites feelings of injustice, prompting supporters to think along the lines of: "How can our government conspire against Trump in such a way? We must take action!"

Consequently, some individuals have resorted to shaming Swift through the distribution of fake pornographic images, likely believing she deserves such treatment for her supposed betrayal of the nation.

Ironically, many conservative fans are expected to support the San Francisco 49ers, hailing from one of the most liberal cities in America.

Section 1.1: The Role of Gender in the Controversy

It's apparent that part of the backlash against Swift stems from a discomfort with powerful women. Historically, women were confined to domestic roles, expected to serve as subservient wives. Recently, there has been a trend on social media promoting "tradwives," where young women adopt 1950s homemaker aesthetics and celebrate that lifestyle.

Many young adults express grievances online about how "feminism" has negatively impacted their lives. Some even argue that it's "natural" for a woman to assume household responsibilities.

Given this context, it’s not surprising that those already skeptical of successful women would be inclined to believe such a nonsensical conspiracy theory. For instance, the notion that a woman must be miserable without a husband and children by 30 feeds into the stereotype that successful women are desperate for male companionship.

In this absurd narrative, it's implied that Swift's relationship must be fabricated since societal beliefs suggest a woman over thirty cannot be genuinely happy unless she conforms to traditional roles.

Subsection 1.1.1: The Impact of the Manosphere

The influence of the manosphere on societal views of women

Admittedly, I have been influenced by various videos from the so-called "manosphere." Though I typically don’t follow the Super Bowl closely, the unfolding drama surrounding these events has piqued my interest.

If conservatives believe that Democrats are cheating, they might rationalize their own dishonest actions. The potential for escalation is concerning. Despite my lack of knowledge about the teams, I find myself rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Chapter 2: Conspiracy Theories and Their Social Implications

The first video titled "Taylor Swift and the Super Bowl conspiracy theory | Power & Politics" explores how right-wing media has fabricated narratives around Swift to manipulate public perception.

The second video, "Political far right pushing baseless Taylor Swift conspiracy theories," delves into how these unfounded claims reflect broader societal issues regarding gender and power.
